Jerry Allen Elementary

Jerry Allen Elementary, originally Lackland City Elementary built in 1960, is one of 79 elementary schools in Northside Independent School District (NISD) in San Antonio. Between the 1970’s and early 2000’s, this campus underwent three different renovation and addition projects. Most recently, KNRG Architects designed the addition of ten new classrooms, the replacement of windows and exterior walls, and the renovation of bathrooms to meet ADA standards. The challenge of working with existing buildings and surroundings was coordinated by KNRG and addressed with professional collaboration involving all project team members. The expectations of continuity between the new addition and renovations and the existing building were exceeded. The completed project was within the proposed budget and the campus was ready to educate and enrich approximately 600 students before the start of school in August.
